TOO MANY IDEAS. But wouldn't it be lovely? Bob would be a friend of Lyn-Z's, I think, from the performance art she does (he's a theatre tech/music production major, so he does sound for them), and she gets him to help them with bugging. Him and Mac bond hardcore over that, in a completely platonic and geeky way, and Lyn-Z is sort of surprised to see Bob actually animated and talking.
Oh lord. Yeah, it's fun to think about. It's great to combine bandom with a tv show, because it gives you all of these sets to play around with--I know what Hearst College looks like, right? And I have a cast of characters--oh, this could work so well. WHY IS TIME NOT MORE ELASTIC, I ask you.
I mean, you also have the lengthy pining before the above ficlet, right? Wherein Lyn-Z does a lot of really specific art (until her advisor laughs at her) and Mac does a lot of staring and blushing in class (those skirts, man, she knows they're a statement, but they're also really hot, right?).
