I actually thought the one where Alicia died was much more difficult to read, probably because there's no relationship in it, it's just about Mikey healing. But she does it well, in both cases, the author I mean. But the best one is the other one I linked, from SGA, because it's ostensibly about Rodney going back to earth after spending years on the other side of the galaxy, but now he hates the military and everything it stands for, so he makes a new life for himself at a tiny university. Except the reason he hates the military is that the love of his life was a colonel, and he died. (Also he hates the bureaucracy and the stupidity, but all those things go together.)

There'll be flashbacks in the sequel, no worries. And feel free to quote me if you want!
