the falling leaves/drift by my window
Instead of going to the university library like I should have (I have a late book and a late fee to pay), I went to a feminist/queer bookstore and bought books and a pin of a Russian turn-of-the-century female poet. The two clerks, oh man. I'm pretty sure they were dating and I'm pretty sure I'm smitten. The light was warm and the air was cold as I walked home after; I like my city right now, I like it so much. It's dark already, too dark, but in the daytime everything is yellow and golden and the light is so gorgeous.
So prompts! Because I'm free of thesis and I finished the female characters prompts from forever ago and I mostly finished the first times prompts and the midsummer night's dream ones.
There's Z saving Ryan from a dungeon, there's Babs/Steph, Parker/Hardison and flying, Willow/Tara, Z/Vicky-T and revolutions, Ryan/Bob and soulbonds, Laena/Annie with Annie a princess, Tennessee and Amelia Pond, and a bunch of others. :D
Prompts! Fall-related, please, pairing or gen. The Like, Lyn-Z, assorted other bandom people (TYV, PATD, possibly others), Bob and Brian, Veronica Mars, BTVS, VD, Leverage, DCU. Crossovers are encouraged. I'm not sure how many I'll do, but probably around ten (if I get a later prompt that I love, I might do that one too). One of them is reserved for

Stay warm, darlings.

"I'm just saying." Veronica was getting snappy; always a sign that things weren't going like she planned. This wasn't all that bad though, seriously. See, sometimes Veronica got everything right except the salient details.
Bob smiled into his coffee. He was waiting for her to ask, because if he offered, she wouldn't take it. Sometimes she was kind of an idiot about being tougher than she looked, like the whole damn city couldn't tell just by looking that she would pretty much bite off your hand if you offered to take her bag for her. (Sometimes she let Bob carry stuff though. Sometimes.)
"Uh, Bob?"
"Mmm," he said, taking another sip of what was honestly pretty shitty coffee.
"Do you think, uh, could I--"
"Yeah," he said, unzipping his top hoodie and handing it to her. She smiled sheepishly and put it on, half-disappearing in it.
"Cozy," she said, and he had to kiss her.
"I'm not gonna call you cute," he said, "but you have to know, it's a good look."
"What, me wearing your clothes?" Fuck, he loved her grin.
"Yup," he said, and she didn't say anything, but she leaned into his side a little. He kissed the top of her head and settled down to wait out the high-powered divorcee who was apparently meeting her ex-husband's brother for drinks. It was cold and her car was terrible, but Bob had never had a better Saturday night.

*_____*
They are SO CUTE. I just grinned all the way through this. I love them so much. They way you write them together, you get Veronica's energy and intensity across, and then it's like...Bob is clearly so content with that. Not content in the way of settling for less; content in the way of, has found the most wonderful girl, loves everything about her, and is just happy with her. And you communicate it in so few words, in the few ficlets you've written about the. I love it.
Thank you!

Mikey shrugged. "What?" she said, adjusting her glasses and resisting the urge to pull her jacket tighter. November was a cold month.
"Well," Lindsey said, stepping in closer to Mikey, shielding her a little bit from the wind, "I guess you get points for remembering a hat," she tugged at Mikey's beanie, "but seriously, ever heard of mittens? Or scarves?"
Mikey smiled a little. "Like yours, you mean?" Lindsey was wrapped in a long multicolored, multi-patterned monstrosity that looked like it had been knitted by committee.
"Yes," Lindsey said, rolling her eyes, "like mine, or really like anything. I'm sure they make scarves that would go with that jacket."
"I don't think they make mittens that would work with my style, though," Mikey said, barely able to keep a straight face.
"Oh, your style, of course," Lindsey said, laughing openly now. "Well, if being practical offends your stylish sensibilities, I suppose I'll have to warm you up in other ways." With that, she pushed at Mikey's shoulders a little, until she had Mikey up against the wall.
Mikey gasped into the kiss and thought, hey, yeah, this'll work. She felt quite warm indeed.
When she got home that night, she found a bright red scarf in her pocket. Gerard looked at her funny when she started giggling in the kitchen, but shrugged and let it go. Mikey texted Lindsey fine you win and wore it proudly.

"Do you think he knows how this works?" Elena asked Stefan under her breath. She was looking at Damon, who was frowning at his pumpkin in concentration.
Stefan's mouth went through something complicated that Elena knew was his almost-smile for Damon. "I don't know," he said. "Are you worried about his artistic choices?"
"Worried is the wrong word," Elena said. "I just don't want to give the Trick-or-Treaters actual nightmares. You did--"
"Talk him out of the haunted house in the garden, yes," Stefan said.
At the other end of the porch, Damon looked up. "You realize I can hear you, right?"
Elena bit her lip. "Oh no, did you?" She wasn't going to laugh, she really wasn't.
Damon blinked at her, all faux-innocence. "I'm not sure I know where you'd get the idea that I'd--"
Stefan interrupted him. "The fact that you have a wall of sketches at our place depicting gruesome pumpkin faces, I think is the source of her, uh, concern."
"It's not Halloween unless one terrifies the children," Damon said primly, and turned his pumpkin around, at which point both Stefan and Elena lost it, and Damon grinned.
The face of the pumpkin wasn't a face, exactly: Damon had apparently spent the last half-hour carving flowers.

Parker eyed the pile of leaves sceptically and then looked at Hardison. "Seems pointless to me," she said. "What's the objective?"
"There's no objective, it's just--" Hardison jumped up and down in the pile a few times to demonstrate and then stopped, sighing. "Fun. It's supposed to be fun."
"I don't get it," she said, and his face softened.
"I know you don't," he said. "It's okay."
She frowned. It was really frustrating when she felt like he wasn't explaining things right, or that she wasn't getting it because she was somehow deficient. She turned to a pair of men who were walking by.
"Hi," she said, stepping out in front of them. "I have a question." Remembering her lessons with Sophie, she added, "Do you mind?"
"Not at all," said the shorter one, looking at her a bit oddly. Most people looked at her like that.
"Why do people jump in leaves?" she demanded.
The guy blinked. "Uh, it's fun?"
Parker bit her lips frustratedly. The blond guy looked at her and then he smirked, glancing at his friend.
"Way to not give her the complete explanation, Brian," he said, bending down to scoop up some leaves and shoving them down Brian's shirt. Brian yelped and swore vengeance, and, and, oh. This, she got.
Grinning, she started advancing on Hardison.
"Parker, that's not what I meant, Parker--" but he was laughing, and so was she.

"You know, Sunnydale is really pretty," Lindsey said consideringly, and then had to laugh when Willow looked at her in horror.
"Sunnydale is a dump," Willow said. "It's, I mean, I told you it's on top of the mouth of hell, right?"
"It can still be pretty," Lindsey said (she wasn't going to admit to being a little intrigued by this Hellmouth business; probably it was the sort of thing that was only fascinating to visitors, though). "I mean, look at this--" she swept out her arm, indicating the park they were walking through, red and gold leaves on the ground and the trees around them. "It's pretty, that's all I'm saying."
Willow looked around, a funny smile on her face. "I suppose," she said, and then reached out for Lindsey. "You're prettier, though."
Lindsey gasped into the kiss (Willow kissed with such focus, it was fucking amazing), and then she gasped again because the leaves around them were rising from the ground, twirling in the air. There was absolutely no wind.
"You're amazing," she said into Willow's mouth and kissed her again, and again.
