Fic Masterlist

Fic Masterlist

This is a masterlist of my stories. Listed in order according to when I posted them, with the more recent stories first (apart from where I've organized it according to verse). ETA: this is woefully out of date, unfortunately--follow the fic and ficlets tags for the more recent stories. Sorry! It'll be updated when the crazy dies down.

Is the world ending? Who's gonna throw the party?

*peers out from under her thesis-shaped rock* So I hear there's a volcano? In Iceland? Doing things? This is nuts, you guys. It doesn't seem like anyone has died, and I hope I haven't gotten that wrong. All planes are canceled in Stockholm and the air space is closed, because apparently it's incredibly dangerous to fly through volcanic ash. Here's hoping it stops soon, because danger and chaos and the ashes being potentially lethal for people who are seriously ill and they're coming right at us, guys, they're already over Sweden. CRAZY. Also, I'm supposed to leave for the US in a month and I want to see my little sister graduate. It's an extremely minor concern in the grand scheme of things, but I love my sister a lot and I want to be there. And compared to the Haiti earthquake and the Chile one, this is decidedly minor. Obviously. Still, a little nuts.

So. I would like to offer ficlets, because I want to think about other things. I'm going to do the first five prompts I like, which may or may not be the first five that appear, because what I can write right now is a little limited.

Theme: post- or pre-apocalyptic scenarios WITH HOPE. Interpret that as you will. Pairings or gen are fine. Bands/fandoms I can write: Mikey, FOB, Bob and Brian (they're a subset of fandom, right?), The Like, Panic/The Young Veins (even if my Jon voice is nonexistent), MSI, others possibly. I can also do Veronica Mars, DCU or BTVS, though the last two feel like cheating since it's not like they've never done the apocalypse thing before.

Prompt away!

ETA: I am done! Five, er, seven ficlets.

they'll never catch us

I found this band very late, about ten months ago, and pretty much didn't figure out how much I really loved them until August. I was really sick in August, staying at our cottage and determinedly trying to get better, to feel better, and I kept hobbling down to the beach and lying down on the cliffs and listening to FaD and IoH on repeat, again and again and again. So it's--they're sunsets and determination and feeling awful but thinking it might really be alright in the end.

After we went back to the city, I started taking walks, trying to figure out how to make my body work again (I'd lost something like 25 pounds in three weeks), and I was listening to them. At first, I only made it down the hill before needing to sit down. Then a little further. Then across the street. I kept walking to the same place after that, when I had the energy to keep going for twenty minutes at a time, and it was this hill in the middle of a huge field where you can sit and watch the sun set over the city. That's--that's where I learned those two albums by heart.

Thank you for the music, boys. ♥

prompts! because writing about friendship is always fun

So I'm making soup, and that made me think about writing. (Shut up.) I haven't felt like working on any of my longer fics for a while (for those of you keeping track, the current priority order goes: 1. Brian getting hypothermia, 2. the Theatre Production, 3. Ray/Mikey college AU of awkward pining, 4. Big Bang sequel), but now I want to write short things. Tiny bits of warmth for the fall, if you will.

So here's what I want: give me a fandom or a crossover--bandom, BTVS, Veronica Mars, DCU, others if you feel like giving me a REALLY wacky crossover (hint: I love it), a pairing or character, and a prompt quote or picture. I want the prompt to have something to do with fall, friendship, or warmth, or all three. So if someone feels like linking to a soup recipe, that's totally okay.

fix me in 45

I realized I forgot to tell you guys about the two Very Important Realizations I had when I was mainlining Fall Out Boy before going to Singapore.

Number 1: People in bandom quote Pete a lot. All the time, in fact. I never knew just how often this happened before.

Number 2: Oh, so Thriller is not actually a Michael Jackson cover, got it. *facepalm* No, I'm not going to tell you about how people mentioning this song used to make me imagine FOB doing the zombie dance. But it was glorious.

sounds of summer

It's official: I'm really feeling better. I can't describe the kind of relief I feel--it's overwhelming, like I'm light as air, and I can't stop smiling. For a while, I thought I'd end up in the emergency room again, for the third time in two weeks.

I spent the afternoon scrambling around on the cliffs while listening to Fall Out Boy. Two hours under the sun and sky, watching the sea. The water was crashing close; it was windy today, but warm in the sun. I had to lie down for a while (I'm better, but not good quite yet at all), and I listened to Hum Hallelujah (it'll never stop breaking my heart) on repeat while I stared at the sky.

On the way home, I picked ljung, heathers, and got stuck in a tiny but unexpected marsh. It was only knee-deep, with rock below, so the only casualties were my sneakers. They're drying on the porch with crumpled-up newspaper inside, and the shadows are longer as we move toward evening. I'm glad I'm here.
