It goes both ways, I think--sometimes I am stunned by the human capacity for love, and sometimes their capacity for hate makes me so sad.
The only way to stop hate is to teach people how to think for themselves, how to understand why something happens and why they react a certain way. And empathy. Empathy for a stranger is essential. But none of it is easy.
