I went to mom's choir's Christmas concert today, and cried my way through at least six of the songs because, oh, one of the choir members did a sign language interpretation of "Silent Night" and one more song, and I can't get over her face, how expressive she was and how she was the very incarnation of joy and it was so beautiful, I can't adequately convey how beautiful it was. I'd never have thought you could recreate music with your hands, but she did. And I really liked the inclusiveness, obviously.

(Side note: when I was younger, they thought my hearing problem would get worse and I would have to learn sign language. It didn't, it went away instead and I put my hearing aids away at twelve, but I still--sign language is high on my list of things I want to learn.)

I feel like writing short-short things, so I thought I'd do one of these. It's been a while. I'll do the first five or six, depending on if my Yuletide grabs me again.

Prompt: a pairing, an AU or a crossover and a first kiss. Fandoms: BTVS, Panic, The Like, Bob, Brian, Mikey Way, Veronica Mars, DCU, Vampire Diaries, etc. You lot know what I write.

Pfft, that hardly qualifies as crack. ♥

That asshole is at the show. Bob can feel him looking from the back of the crowd, which is why he knows who it is even before he turns; most people are there to watch the band, not gawk at the sound guy.

He finds him later at the bar.

"The band sounds good," Tim says, sliding a beer over to Bob. Unspoken: the drummer is shit, and you're better. Bob has always known how to read Tim.

"Thanks," Bob says. What he doesn't say: it's been two years, dickhead. But thanks for resurfacing now, it's good to have friends. Tim probably gets that without him saying it. Probably.

"You missed me, huh?" Yeah, Tim gets it.

"Nah," Bob says. "You're way too uppity, it gets a man down."

Tim smirks. He's good at that. The first time Bob met him, at some kind of to-do for meta-powered high-school kids who didn't want to be superheroes; he'd been pretending to be a telepath from old-money New England. The evening had ended with them using Bob's newfound pyrotechnical ability to start fires all over, and Bob was pretty sure Tim had been severely reprimanded for that. It had been the beginning of a pretty beautiful friendship, though.

Then Tim shakes himself, and looks at Bob properly. "I did miss you," he says, and sounds very honest for Tim. "I--" and he reaches out, touching at Bob's jaw.

Bob swallows. "Really?" Are we finally doing this? Are we--

Tim kisses him. I guess we are.

(I don't have a good source of single-issue comics right now... though I see Red Robin has some trades out, which I will add to my xmas list! I love all Robins and Batgirls but Tim is my favorite, so I really should be reading it. (Dick is my favorite Nightwing, that's just how it goes.) I am just terrible at keeping up with ongoing comics.)

*nod nod* Yeah, I could see how that would be... tricky. I was thinking of Max from season 3 a bit more, who I quite liked. Though I liked Cassidy, too, before he got screwed over by the writers.

Mac/Dick Grayson porn would be amazing, I feel sure. :) But I LOVED the Mac/Steph -- seriously, the cutest! :D

Mikey thinks basketball is a stupid sport. He wouldn't tell Wallace that, sure, but he's pretty over the whole idea of shooting hoops. Except that when Wallace makes a three-pointer and looks really pleased, it makes Mikey want to smile. (He accidentally told Gabe that and got laughed out of the dorm. Then he told Pete, who promptly bought Mikey a really orange jersey. Which he's not wearing.)

After the game, he sticks around. Wallace and him, it's not a thing, it's really not, except that Veronica seems to think it is, which must mean something. Or might mean something.

Wallace comes over to say hi when his adoring fans have gone away. Mikey finishes replying to Pete's texted demand for dtls, mikeyway, ineed with an emphatic NO and looks up.

"Hey yourself," he says. Then, because it seems to be something you say, and Wallace really was, "you were pretty great out there."

Wallace grins. "Nah, you should've seen me last week."

Maybe Mikey should have, but he's pretty sure he was sleeping off last night when Wallace had the Saturday morning game.

"Anyway, thanks for coming," Wallace says.

"Sure," Mikey says. He's thinking he might go for it when Wallace is first to lean in. It's been a long time since Mikey didn't want to look away at all, so he keeps his eyes open.

Veronica makes fun of them all the way back to the dorm, but Mikey's pretty sure it's done with love.

"Augh." Bob turns away from the window in disgust. He's so goddamn sick of snow, and now he has to walk home from school in a storm because his mom can't pick him up and only seniors are allowed to drive themselves--shit, this sucks.

He's about halfway home when another gust of wind smacks him in the face and he's just done. So he goes into the Starbucks even though he doesn't have the money to pay for a coffee right now. They won't throw him out in a storm, right?

There's only one more person in there; Bob recognizes Mikeyway from school and goes a little red. Mikey's nice. They talk sometimes. (Mikey's pretty much the only reason math is bearable.)

Mikey turns and sees him and smiles that half-smile of his, which. Yeah. Bob's a bit stupid about that smile.

"Hey," he manages.

Mikey nods and says something to the barista, and then he turns back to Bob.

"Hey," he says.

"Some storm, huh?" Bob hates himself. The weather?

"It's practically apocalyptical," Mikey says, and goes to get his drink. His drinks? Maybe he's started to mainline coffee now. No, he's holding one of them out to Bob, who takes it, surprised.

"Hot chocolate?" he says when he feels the smell.

"You looked cold," Mikey says, and goes a little red, too. And then it looks like he steels himself before leaning in and kissing Bob's cheek. "Also I just wanted to, you know."

"Me too," Bob manages. "Me totally too."

This turned out a little weird. Um.

"Get out," the kid said, gripping his sticks tight.

Damon frowned. "Must you be so rude, really?" He only wanted a look at the tapestry in the music room, because it looked appealingly mystical and like something he'd have to make Bonnie look at next time she was a little more amenable to helping. Right now asking her would not be a good plan (he wasn't that fond of aneurysms), which was why he wanted to have the tapestry in reserve for when it was.

"Yes," the kid said. Wow, his eyes were really blue.

Damon shook himself out of--what was this? "You're going to let me look at the tapestry," he said, but the kid's eyes didn't dilate at all.

Damon gaped. The kid looked a little smug, but mostly he looked irritated.

"Yeah, that doesn't work on me."

"Why not?" Damon said. Not peevishly. Damon was never peevish.

"Werewolves, witches and vampires," the kid muttered. "You think you've cornered the market on fucking being mystical."

"Wait." If he wasn't either of those, then what was he?

Those blue eyes pinned him in place. The kid said, very clearly, "I know thy name, Damon Salvatore, and I will have thee gone." Then he kissed Damon on the lips and pushed him backwards, and the door to the music room slammed shut.

(Do you want a source? And you should be reading Red Robin, yes. It's sometimes dumb, but it's sometimes great and it has some awesome Steph moments as well. But the first three pages of this month's, OH.)

I liked Cassidy too! Before, you know. That all happened.

I try, I try.

("Where are your wings?" Damon demanded, sitting down across from Bob who was apparently doing homework at the Grill.

Bob blinked. "My wings?" he said innocently, but Damon wasn't fooled.

"Yes, your wings," he said, gesturing at Bob. "Because Peter Pan was actually a documentary, or whatever." Seriously, when Damon figured out what was wrong with his life there would be a reckoning.)
