I was thinking about the argument many of the people on the no-warnings side make, that it ruins the surprise element/artistic integrity/take your pick of the story, and, um, we label stories with pairings, and that's obviously something most fandom writers don't take issue with. In my silly little head, announcing the pairing beforehand constitutes a pretty massive spoiler. *blinks innocently*

the bad logic and the self-righteousness, it hurts.

Yup. I think the same thing of content ratings too. An of course, some people don't use those either, but if they post to a community like that, they can usually expect to get served or to receive very little attention for not following common community rules.

Yeah, absolutely. I genuinely do not understand the problem with this. No one has been asked to warn for everything, no one. SIGH.

But that would be logical! Silly you; logic doesn't apply here. Didn't they tell you in the orientation booklet on Assholes In Fandom that you got when you signed away your soul?

You know how I am with anything education-related--my attention span is just really limited. Also, I THINK I might have used that booklet to line the litter box. Ooops?

The 'warnings ruin the surprise' argument is lame. I've seen people discussing one bandombigbang story that had a mmassive spoiler warning for major character death, and they were still surprised by the who and the when of it.

By the way, somewhat on topic, I really like it when authors label secondary or background pairings. I was curious enough to read one or two Panic-centred big bang fics because there was background Gee/Lyn or whatever, and they were great, and I'd never even have clicked on them otherwise :)

Yes, see, exactly. I'm kind of flabbergasted at the sheer stupid and failure to be empathetic that is going on.

Right? Because really, you always know how fic is going to end. Character A and Character B will end up together, no matter how much drama and angst and confusion there is. Huge spoiler is huge.

Sometimes, people are silly. But then there are awesome people who can respond calmly and logically, and try to show people why they are wrong. Like you! I got very upset and flaily and glare at things a lot before I could think about this clearly. *sighs* It's still... I want to just run around yelling how can you not get what I am saying? I am not speaking Martian!

Yes, that. The logic, it fails.

Dude, I don't deserve any of the credit for this discussion. I haven't even been able to participate at all in the contentious discussions, I've just added a comment here and there to sensible posts and tried to, I don't know, stay calm and stuff.

Such epic failing has not been seen since... okay, well pretty recently but still.

Everyone who tries to be sensible and calm and not try to punch wanky people in the face with the power of their minds? Deserves at least a little credit, I think. &hearts God though, there are people who are so incredibly brave, and are willing to share their stories to try and make others understand... It shouldn't have to happen like this, but I have so much admiration for them.
