First things first, is anyone else having trouble with Gmail? I am, in Firefox but not in Safari. But Google is working just fine. *hands* I don't understand, and my internet is also currently running at a snail's pace, so I can't use my usual tools for figuring out what's wrong. DAMMIT. ETA: OH THANK GOD, it's working again.

But much more importantly, I'm slowly but surely becoming really interested in, you know, Patrick Stump. And Joe Trohman. Even Pete Wentz. Admittedly, I don't really like Andy Hurley, but I'm starting to love the band he's in.

Really, all of you, feel free to snicker at me. I'm the slowest of the slow, I'm well aware of this fact. I'm just sort of startled by this development--I've been reading fic about them for longer than I've been interested in MCR (in case I haven't shared this yet, my bandom origins story goes: Pete/Patrick porn; Weekenders; a lot more fic; hearing the Black Parade and going huh, I like the way the song changes throughout; hearing Teenagers; and then seeing that clip where Gerard tells the girls in his audience to spit in the faces of dudes who tell them to take their shirts off. And that was IT. Of course, it took me another, uh, nine months to get a livejournal. SLOWEST OF THE SLOW.

Anyway, FOB. For the sake of my new-found fascination with them and for the sake of the sequel to my big bang (which is partly in Patrick pov, it seems), I would deeply appreciate a link to your favorite/canon-defining/OTP-defining/etc/whatever interview/blogpost/photo shoot/etc. Basically if you link me to something, I'll be really, really grateful. OH, I almost forgot--tell me your favorite FOB album.

Peeeete! Jooooooe! I don't know as much and that's probably the reason I care less about Patrick, but he's pretty sweet, too!

& Andy can gfh as far as I'm concerned.

I can't choose my favorite FOB album. Depends what kind of a mood I'm in. I do love Cork Tree and IOH and FAD all a lot.

*beams* Thank you, darling. Now I have somewhere to start for my own research, there. Also, I had to go "huh, hmm--oh", before I could decipher the acronyms. /o\

I properly, properly love From Under the Cork Tree, I think it's got an amazing energy to it. I don't have a lot of FOB media saved but the 16 Candles vid is definitely one of my favourite parts of canon. I like this blog entry of Patrick's and Pete's Q&A answers are always worth reading. This out.com interview with Pete is fantastic too.

Amazing energy is a serious plus, and I kind of can't believe I haven't seen the 16 candles vid--it's so strange to come at a band from this angle, where you know a lot of background meta but can't quite be sure whether it's fic or canon. And oh, thanks for those links--FOB just has SO MUCH canon that it's kind of ridiculously difficult to know where to start.

I really don't know much about FOB or FOB fanfic (except for how I like pretty much all fic that pairs Patrick with people not in his band, and Andy/Matt Mixon), and I also don't like Andy Hurley :(

HOWEVER, Folie a Deux is one of my favourite albums ever, bandom or otherwise!

Hai, bb, we're in total agreement there. Like, on all counts. I also love Pete/Joe, Patrick/Pete, and Patrick/Joe. See, with fic I'm on firmer ground. (Oh, [livejournal.com profile] nokomis305's last post was one where she asked people to rec FOB fics, I think. In case you're missing some crucial ones.)

\o/ Awesome. One of my favorite songs of theirs (don't ask me what it's called, pls) is from that album.

Pete/Joe, Patrick/Pete and Patrick/Joe! Yes! These are good pairings. A lot of people like Patrick/Bob, which I generally don't read, but I have in my time read one or two interesting fics with that pairing. People also seem to like Patrick/Gerard, which I never understood.

I actually really like Patrick/Bob. But, um, I can generally be convinced of the virtue of most pairings, even really outlandish ones. I mean, it's just love, right? *grins* I don't think I've ever skipped a fic because of its pairing (though I completely understand doing so)--the whole polyfannish ficreading/lurking that eventually got me here started as a quest for good writing, which tends to be what gets me, even now.

Idk if that makes sense, I'm kind of achy and at work and stuff. :D

Spend some time digging around [livejournal.com profile] icecreamhdaches, especially the very beginning of the journal (summer 2007, I think?). Lots of canon!

Photoshoots: Look for the one with Pete covered in stuffed pandas (saved in my delicious somewhere), and the one from Warped 05 where they're all stipped down to their underwear (except Patrick, who keeps his tshirt on) and are watergunning each other.

And my favourite FOB album is for sure Infinity on High.

God, the amount of FOB canon out there is incredibly intimidating. But thanks for reminding me about that journal (and telling me what dates to look at), I knew it existed but I've only read stray posts very occasionally.

Those sound amazing. See, I had this feeling FOB had some awesome photoshoots, but I've really only seen that picture where Pete is wearing those white boots, and then lots of concert shoots. And that awesome Joe/Pete picture you posted.

Duly noted. *grins* I'm kind of really excited about all this, it's so much fun to have a lot of new music to discover.

so, i don't have many interviews saved. D: but i do have some fic. all three are pete/patrick (i hope that's okay; i recced them because of the authenticity of the characterizations and the really fantastic dynamics between the two of them. and that's my otp, so. .__.)

first off, A Stitch Away From Making it (A Scar Away From Falling Apart) (http://femmequixotic.livejournal.com/276577.html) by [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic, because of the amazing relationship dynamic. this is the most true-to-form relationship between the two of them that i have ever seen (or, at least, the one that i find to be the most likely. i've never actually met them, sadly).

second, Stereo Field (http://normalhumanbein.livejournal.com/25632.html) by [livejournal.com profile] normalhumanbein, because it's amazing. the pete/patrick is mostly implied here, but the characterization is just as fantastic.

third, i took my time (i hurried up) (http://fidelian.livejournal.com/15596.html) by [livejournal.com profile] fidelian, because, again, characterization. (i'm sure you've caught on to the pattern by now.) it's a bit different than the other ones, but that's because of the AU setting.

and as for my favorite album... i don't really have one. i love all their albums pretty much equally - except for evening out with your girlfriend, oh lord my ears :( - so i compiled a ZIP of my favorite songs. :P and since i put almost all the songs from take this to your grave on there, i guess that one could be considered my favorite. here's the link. (http://www.mediafire.com/?ljt2zow4owj)

haha, wow. sorry for the tl;dr-ness of this. .__. i just get excited when i know something, y'know. \o/

i love all patricks. this article from the nyt is pretty wonderful esp for patrick talking about pete. the part where travis tells about meeting patrick is my favorite piece of fob canon ever: “The first day I met him was the day Ray Charles died,” said Travis McCoy, the frontman of Gym Class Heroes, whom Mr. Stump has produced and who are signed to Decaydance, the label run by Mr. Wentz. “He was in the dressing room, crying. I knew from that point on, dude was special."

my favorite record would have to be folie à deux, not because i think it's necessarily their best (i think that might be IOH) but because that was the first record that came out after i started loving them. i remember every time a new song leaked leading up to the release date i'd walk around kyoto in a daze of love, in my dreams trees grow all over the streets; those songs just encapsulate everything i love so much about fob, that lightness and sweetness and seriousness, like the best kind of fairy tale.

That reminds me of how the most overwhelming memory associated with a Folie A Deux song for me is how the first time I listened to "What A Catch, Donnie" I was on a Greyhound bus in the middle of nowhere, Vermont, parked at a stop and waiting for passengers, and I was staring out the windows at fall foliage and paying really close attention to the music. I have such a strong mental image of the moment, and it comes back almost every time I hear the song.

i love how songs do that, attach themselves so completely to a time and a place.

the first time i listened to What a Catch, i had to lock myself in a bathroom stall in the library in kyoto and cry. that is a true story and i admit it without shame. now i'm totally burnt out on that whole record and cannot listen to it at all.

I have that same burnout w/r/t "Hum Hallelujah". I just listened to it too intensely too many times. I still love just thinking about the lyrics, though. PETE WENTZ LOOK WHAT YOU DO TO ME.

Seriously, Patrick STUMP. ♥ No, no, I don't have a thing for self-effacing talented and fiercely loyal people (who is this Bob Bryar you're speaking of?). Also I like the way he writes music, man, I really do.

I think it's looking like I'm starting with that one and Infinity on High--I want to sort of do a little at a time.

And oh, the way you describe that is so lovely, I can almost see it. Music just--sometimes it really does make a moment that much more tangible and memorable. Vienna Teng does that--I was sitting on the subway the first time I understood that City Hall was about gay marriage and started crying at the line "My baby's looking so damn pretty with those anxious eyes, rain-speckled hair, my ring to wear". It's possible I'm kind of an emotional person.

THAT IS WHY PATICK/BOB IS SO EXCELLENT!

i am going to find that vienna teng song; it sounds extremely relevent to my interests. and crying in public about songs is a.) apparently another thing we have in common, and b.) always an excellent life decision.

Feeling things very deeply, maybe? And yes, absolutely. Excellent life decision, whether it's about a song or something else (the day Sweden passed gay marriage, were we lj friends yet then? Because I wrote a post about positively bawling in public even while smiling so hard through the tears).
