prompts! because writing about friendship is always fun

So I'm making soup, and that made me think about writing. (Shut up.) I haven't felt like working on any of my longer fics for a while (for those of you keeping track, the current priority order goes: 1. Brian getting hypothermia, 2. the Theatre Production, 3. Ray/Mikey college AU of awkward pining, 4. Big Bang sequel), but now I want to write short things. Tiny bits of warmth for the fall, if you will.

So here's what I want: give me a fandom or a crossover--bandom, BTVS, Veronica Mars, DCU, others if you feel like giving me a REALLY wacky crossover (hint: I love it), a pairing or character, and a prompt quote or picture. I want the prompt to have something to do with fall, friendship, or warmth, or all three. So if someone feels like linking to a soup recipe, that's totally okay.

*tweaks your nose* Perhaps not? It's this marvelous exercise in self-indulgence wherein Ray and Gerard are rooming together, and then he comes back after the summer and discovers that shit, Mikey grew up. Mikey, who used to be a really awkward dorky high schooler, is now a really dorky awkward high schooler who wears tiny scene t-shirts and tight jeans and eyeliner. Really, Ray is DOOMED.

There is so much pining in it, oh man. *pokes at outline with a stick* I've written and rewritten tiny parts a lot, but I can't seem to get started on the longer arc.

See, okay. It goes something like this: Ray staggers into the suite carrying two of his boxes (the universal law of dorms goes like this: the elevator will be broken on Move-in day. Always) and then he puts the boxes down, sighs in relief, and, huh. That's Mikey on the couch, Mikey, whose glasses are on the coffee table and who is blinking his eyes open and looking at Ray like, like--oh, damn. Ray knows he's blushing right now.

And then Gerard comes in, and things are awkward, and then Mikey goes away, and Ray moves in, and then later that night, he stares at his ceiling and tries not to think about Gerard's little brother.

Poor Ray. Gerard's little brother is beautiful; there's no escape from this basic fact. And then there's pining?
