I don't like the darkness this time of year (it's dark by 4 pm), but I do like the clear, cold nights and the stars and the moon. I took a walk the other evening, and right when Brendon Urie started singing "Hey moon, please forget to fall down," I looked up to see the moon, just a tiny sliver, settling in on the horizon. It's easy to be someone who romanticizes moments when things like that happen.

Today I randomly met a retired professor on the bus. She told me about her new book on child language acquisition (she's 79, good goddamn) and we both agreed that the very high-powered gentlemen who wrote the editorial on holding off on second-language classes for children until they turn 13 were perhaps "talking about something they weren't very well-versed in", as she put it. She was awesome and I kind of want to be her when I grow up.

Lastly, hey, tell me things? I'd do that fanfiction one, except I sort of do that when I post and ask for ficlet prompts (the next one will be in December), so anon meme it is. ♥

ANOTHER ANON MEME

Earlier today I watched the moon rise from the third floor of my office building. Winter always puts me out of sorts like that. Also, this won't make any sense, but I'm gonna say it anyway: I was just saying the other day how much I miss that song, and now I have this lovely image of you listening to it and looking up at the sky, and that makes me happy. Thank you. ♥

It's odd, isn't it, how days and nights get all muddled together? And I think that makes perfect sense, or at least it does to me. ♥

Pretty as it was, it just feels so WRONG to watch the moon come up from inside an office building. I should be HOME when that happens!

And I'm glad that made some sense to you. I haven't been able to listen to that song for a long time, and I think it's going to be a while yet before I can, but this helped. ♥

That is very true. I walked home and watched the full moon rise (gorgeously) above the trees, and it was 4 pm. And pitch black. RIDICULOUS.

I obviously don't know the context, but yes, it makes some sense. I'm so glad it helped. ♥
