Comment with the name of a female character (in any show, movie, book, comic, etc that you think I'm familiar with) and I'll tell you one thing I love about her. In return, you can do the same in your journal (if you like!).

PS. [livejournal.com profile] 14valentines and [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon start their posting tomorrow.

OH MY GOD. *uses appropriate bassist icon*

Okay. So, right, I love that she's just about the most dynamic frontwoman I've ever fucking seen live, that she basically climbs all over everyone and everything and plays bass like it's nothing at all and sings "Children of the Revolution" sitting on the shoulders of a roadie (or a security man) who is walking her through the crowd--triumphant, always, there's no other word for it. I also love that she writes awesomecakes songs and that she's so so smart, so smart. And one of the best singers I've ever heard.

You've seen Shingai live? Please tell me that by live you mean live on the tele. I think I'm going to die of jealousy.

I'll be in the corner, in tears.

What do I love about Veronica? SHE'S SMARTER THAN YOU. Not you you, of course, but everyone. And she has such fun with it! Her little gun-fingered salute to Lamb in the pilot, oh man, I love it so much. And I love that she's angry, fucking furious as hell, and I love her friendship with Wallace and Mac--I just really love her. Oh! And I love that she has a stable and awesome relationship with her dad.

MARTHA JONES. OH MAN. Okay, I love how she's so goddamn smart and competent that she just keeps getting it right in a way that just makes sense, because it's her. I love how she loves the Doctor but still challenges him. I love how she saves the fucking world, okay, and she does it by telling stories. I love how she's more badass than anyone but still feels like such a completely real person. I LOVE HER. SHE IS MY FAVORITE.

I know very little about Jane Roland, having only read the first book, but I shall try! I love how unapologetically badass she is, like, she's not written as someone who tries to be anything but herself. I love that she's stubborn and superior and doesn't care what people think of her, yet she takes care of her daughter.

*beams* I love that she's so fierce about being a role model, I love that she shoots guns, I love that she's an awkward clutz offstage and confesses that she is. I fucking love her art, it's creepy and awesome and weird and technically skilled, and I love that she's intense and earnest and she has the best smile ever, okay?

Alicia! I love that she's a tech and a bassist, I love that so much, oh, girls with instruments, and I love how tall she is, and how sweet she can be. I'm also really fond of her because of how much crap she must have dealt with, being a girl tech, and yet she kept on keeping on.

I love how insanely talented she is, how unapologetic she is (see also: Golden Globes red carpet), I love her music and the way she smiles. I also really love her determination and the fact that she doesn't think twice about exploring different genres or entertainment forms.

SARAH FUCKING CONNOR. Oh man. I don't even think I've talked about this show on LJ (which, you have a good instinct for these things), but god, I fucking love her. (I haven't actually seen the original movies.)

I love that she's a mom and she's still just about the most badass character on television, I love that she's incredibly competent, and I love her relationship with her son, that she tries to make things normal occasionally, when she can, even though most of the time it's completely impossible. I love that she's seriously fucking smart, too, and that she's worked out so many things about how they have to live in order to survive. BASICALLY I LOVE HER A LOT.

BABS.

I love that she didn't give up, that she found a way to keep doing what she does, a way that becomes incredibly important for the rest of the bats and other heroes. I love her intelligence and her eidetic memory and her sense of humor; I love the relationship she has with Dick and how well they know each other. I love that she can be proven wrong and be okay with that.

I love that she's the most powerful one of them all. I love that she's angry, I love that she can be really mean, and not in a stereotypical way. I love that she feels like a person as opposed to a "strong female character," because stereotypes of all sorts are bad characterizations. I LOVE HER.
