*wipes at eyes*

So, Swedish downhill skiier Anja Pärson crashed spectacularly in the downhill on Wednesday. When I say spectacularly I mean that one of our commentators, a former downhill skiier, was crying and said "I can't believe she's not unconscious." It was absolutely terrifying.

Yesterday, this happened:

She won an Olympic bronze medal not 24 hours after the scariest crash of her career. I just--that's some incredible determination, especially considering she had to face the same run as the one she crashed in (super-combined consists of both downhill and slalom). The last jump had been whittled down, but still. But still. Anja Pärson, ladies and gentlemen.

ETA: If you're bored, or something, you should hunt down a picture of your favorite female Olympic athlete and post it here. :D? :D?

I just can't get over her getting on the same run, you know? Like, fine, slalom, but the same hill where she crashed? Not 24 hours later? I'm amazed and glad.

Oh man, I saw that crash too! It was brutal, I was so pleased when she got the bronze the day after. Terrifying, but man, those are some absolutely exquisitely amazing women and it's such a joy to watch them, you know? I was pretty proud of our American girl Lindsey Vonn for her win the same day Anja crashed -- skiing down with a badly bruised shinbone, actually only on one ski as she finished the course. All these skiers are just so fucking impressive and fierce and wonderful. Women in sports! \o/

ps: sorry I've been away from the internet lately, how are you doing? is life going better? ♥

Lindsey Vonn is amazing. She's so so so good, it's really fun to watch. I'm also glad her mishap in the super-combined only resulted in her not finishing the race as opposed to something like all the other things that have been happening (Majdic in XC, ow ow ow, that was bad).

YAY WOMEN IN SPORTS.

ps. eh, you know. i'll email you when i feel more clear-headed? ♥

Totally amazing! There were some brutal crashes, I'm amazed at their courage to get back up and go out onto the run again. Very inspiring!

Seriously! So inspiring. Determination, oh man. Like Stacy something, the American skier who was the first one who fell in the downhill when they were doing practice runs. &WOMEN IN SPORTS;

Clara Hughes, Canadian speed skater. One of only four people ever to win a medal in both Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and THE ONLY person to win MULTIPLE medals in both!

ANJA. I can't even--I watched the rerun this morning (hence the entry) and was just, you know, sniffling into my toast. SHE IS AWESOME.

Oh, that is so sweet! I'm really sorry she turned out to suck, but at least you got that day. And she was good, too.

I watched her crash and was so scared for her but when she got up and WALKED OFF and waved I was clapping. Seriously. And then she won a medal and they zoomed in on her face and she is adorable and ugh, I wanted to hug her. Seriously.

Also? I will now be looking at pictures of all the snowboarders especially the US women's team all together just being adorable for the remainder of my Friday night. Thanks. >:(

(Except you know, how I'm not upset about it.)

She is so adorable! Tiny and INCREDIBLY STRONG. Like, I think she could pick me up and carry me off and I'm pretty tall. :D

I'M NOT SORRY. :DDDDD

I SAW THAT CRASH ON TV. I basically went AAAAAAAAAAH and hid my eyes, because that was hideous to watch. And then they kept replaying it OVER and OVER and ohmygah I had to change the channel.

Bronze yeaaah!

GOD, I saw it when it happened too! It was just--the moment when everyone realized just how bad it was going to be was horrifying, horrifying. And then she got up and hobbled off, and oh man, it was kind of unbelievable.

\o/ \o/ \o/ Most stubborn EVER! IL HER.
