turn back the clock

My jetlag is awesome. I fell asleep at 8 pm with my clothes on and woke up at midnight wide awake; it's all very entertaining, this internal clock-fuckery. It means I'm not done with your beta, darling
torakowalski, since I intended to do the last half tonight. But!
Today was somewhat okay, in terms of thesisness. I have a most adorable and helpful advisor, who keeps being so positive about my mess of a paper that I'm sometimes convinced she's reading a different one than the one I'm writing. At any rate, she told me she goes on vacation July 1st and asked if I want to keep working until then, and I said, "Yes, of course." So we went through the whole thing and she gave me good comments and told me to make an appendix in her very sweet but also pointed way. She's pretty awesome. She also gave me her cellphone number in case I needed anything, which for a Swedish professor is a highly unusual level of personal contact. Do you guys remember my supervisor issues of last year? Ahahaha. Night and day, I tell you.
Also, I have a defense date! October 4th, ladies and gentlemen. It's a ways away, but that's because a couple of the ones who weren't done now need a fair amount of time.
Because I cannot sleep, I will finally do the icon meme.
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.
marksykins gave me these icons:

My default! I love it so. First because the red hair plus the bat t-shirt implies that it is Barbara Gordon, who was my childhood heroine and remains one of my most favorite characters ever. Additionally, using the icon is my way of saying, "Oh, you know who I like? Batgirl. In all incarnations." They are my favorites, Babs and Cass and Steph (and even Misfit, shortlived and unauthorized as her Batgirl time was). I LOVE THEM SO MUCH, it's very difficult to talk sensibly about it. Lastly, it's just a fucking beautiful icon, the end.

Ah, yes. hold me down, keep me whole are the keywords; this is my icon for, well, sex that involves holding someone down, but also for things that are about needing to be still, needing to be held still, made to stay. Which definitely can be a kinky sex thing but doesn't have to be. It can just be about love holding you together.

brightbright, ooops, tennessee--I love this icon. It was made especially for me and is my only The Like icon, technically (so far, anyway)--I also have a beautiful Charlotte one, but she isn't in the band anymore. (She still counts, I'm just saying.) This is simultaneously an icon for silly things, an icon for The Like matters, and an icon with Tennessee being really gorgeous (hence the brightbright keyword). If I didn't have Babs, it would have been my default. ♥

green, rain--a very pretty icon for when things are a bit tiresome, but not too bad. Like, you know, it's raining and cold, but you have a green coat and an umbrella. *grins* I really like it, and sometimes I use it just because green is my favorite color.

revolution girl-style--this was one of the first icons I found back when I was writing my big bang last year. Now, Maja is not in that story, but something about the attitude of this, the way it's fierce and sharp and dark-colored--it just fit the story perfectly. I use it for feminism and I sometimes use it for things related to that AU, which, you know, I love it a hell of a whole lot, and I haven't finished writing about or thinking about that revolution, where they take back the right to make art and music in the open, the right to sing and dance and live their own way. I love my group of revolutionaries, god, I fucking love them so much.

gotcha--hell yeah, Veronica Mars is smarter than everyone and she will get you good. I love this icon, I use it for being snarky and I use it to make fun of myself sometimes and--it's an awesome icon, basically.
