Three things!

1. I got my ass kicked by my supervisor today, in all the best of ways. It was two hours of completely tearing apart a section in my thesis, and in the process of doing so, she showed me what was wrong with the analysis and how to take a position as a researcher. Which she thinks I should do, because my thesis is "worthwhile" and "fits in the field" and "eventually publishable." I LOVE HER YOU GUYS. Remember the woman from last year? NIGHT AND DAY.

2. I'm rewatching Buffy. Who here loves that show? Is it not the best? I'm in the middle of season 2, and I just, ugh. Giles! Willow! Joyce! Cordelia--I LOVE HER AND HER BITCHY SELF SO! OZ! The vamps--here is where I liked Spike the most, when he was with his crazy lady, and I do like Angel here too. Even Xander has his moments--he's a spot-on teenage boy a lot, so sometimes I want to throttle him, but sometimes he is wonderful. Buffy herself, oh man, I love that girl so fucking much. She's a teenager and she's brave and she hurts and she puts herself back together again and--I just love her, I really really do. *fails at coherency* Come talk to me! Favorite quotes! Moments! Whatever. ♥

3. I signed up for h/c bingo, I'm sure you're all astonished. Because, right, try and think of a single story I've posted that has none, okay? Can you? Comment ficlets don't count. Yeah, I know.

Anyway! I would love ideas! I might rework them into something that is a shade of a remnant of a sliver of the original idea, but still. *beams encouragingly* I will write: The Like, Bob, Brian, Mikeyway, assorted members of FOB and Ashlee Simpson, PATD, TYV, BTVS (especially right now), Veronica Mars, the Bats...

Is it not great? Now tell me what to write!

Early Buffy is so good it makes me like the later seasons despite their problems. *sighs happily* Oh man, Darla--I always thought they wasted her, killing her so early. But Drusilla is really my favorite out of the two--ugh, awesome. And twisted and terrifying. But awesome.

I used to read a lot of fic about Angelus and his Crew back in the day -oh, what did they get called? The Fanged Four! So incredibly terrifying, such awesome brain-breaky darkfic! *fistpump* I love Dru so much too.

It's true, watching Darla on Angel made her scarier too, with the backstory.

I love Buffy! [livejournal.com profile] birdsflying and I rewatched S1 & 2, and are planning on rewatching 3. And then probably stopping, because there are good episodes after that, but not great seasons.

But oh, Season 1 & 2! Especially the finales! "Giles, I'm 16. I don't want to die." They break my heart in the best ways.

(FWIW, Buffy is another on my list of random fictional women I like to mentally hook up Kon with).

"What's left?"

"Me." Seriously, it's my favorite TV moment ever. Ever ever ever. But the finale of season 1, too, it's brilliant and heartbreaking and then funny ("I may be dead, but I'm still pretty") and I just--"We could grind our enemies into talcum powder with a sledge hammer, but gosh, we did that last night." I love their humor--I'm the biggest sucker ever for joking about the end of the world. &them;

And honestly, I'm going to rewatch all of it, just because I realized I never saw season 7--people have told me that's a good thing, but I would like the closure. Also because stopping after 3 would mean not meeting Tara, who is another lady I love sort of unreasonably. It's--Joss often has the same problem, which is that he sets up the best characters ever and then eventually spectacularly loses track of what he's doing with them. SIGH.

(<333 That is a good crossover indeed. Btw, I'm still going to write your female character prompt--I'm finishing all of them, I just need to find my writing nerve again. But even if I wasn't, it's not like I could resist the Veronica-and-Kon of enforced extracurricular activities.)

I love Tara. I... I slightly shipped Buffy/Tara? Because I sort of thought they deserved each other? Actually, it was for pretty much the same reason I shipped Buffy/Oz-- they were my favourites, I thought they deserved to have someone awesome and I thought they'd look cute together.

There are some killer episodes later-- Earshot? I love surprise!telepathy.* And I love Tara, I love Anya, I love Xander getting his life together-- and that it can be a good life. I love the magic shop.

And like you say, I love the humour and heartbreak, because it should be like that. It's just a thing of beauty and a joy forever, and it makes me happy for the fact of its existence.

*I'm listening to the BBC Radio drama remakes/backstory/fanfic of Blakes 7 and they're reminding me how much I loved Cally, who was a teleapth. I don't know if you watched the original or have picked up the remake, but one of the things with Cally was that she represented the telepathic mirror of Spock-- she could send, but not receive except for from her family group, so she represented the isolation of the telepath, she could speak but only into a void, no reply, where Spock's telepathy connected him with others.

I love that you're another one who likes wacky rarepairings. I've never thought of Buffy/Tara, but I can totally get behind that. I'm in the middle of Willow and Oz being adorable, but I can support a future Buffy/Oz/Tara sort of OT3, I think it'd be awesome, and I think the way they'd come together would be awesome.

The magic shop! And oh, Anya, yeah. She's another one that I just, yeah. She's weird in all her demon/human-ness, but she's weird in a way that is always so consistently and reassuringly and wonderfully herself. If that makes sense.

Yes! Humor and heartbreak--it's the thing that a lot of post-Buffy shows/movies don't get right, you know, snarkiness in the face of grave danger--on Buffy it was always a sort of, I don't know, there's a lot of heart and a lot of being so very human in it. You know, tilting your chin up sometimes in order to disguise the trembling, sometimes because you know you've got this.

I've never seen either version of Blake's 7--but it sounds like I would like Cally. I love turning something familiar around like that, silence instead of constant noise, isolation instead of constant two-way communication. It's really interesting.

I loved the series. It does suffer from alien worlds largely looking like that familiar quarry in Wales and costumes that, I'm sure, looked better at the time, but... it was just interesting and different from a lot of other sci-fi.

Bob with wings? OR, girl!Bob with wings?

Didn't you write Bob/Willow once? (edit: Doh, that sounds like I actually don't know. I do! That was in the spirit of a remindery poke, because I quite liked the Bob/Willow ficlet you wrote.) Bob is cursed and de-aged, but luckily he's in Sunnydale where there are people who know how to fix things like that?

Or, Bob getting tortured in the Bat-verse? Or someone of your choice in the Batverse getting tortured and Bob accidentally rescuing them?

Also, I still hold out hope that there will one day be more Bob/Veronica. Cuddling for warmth? Broken bones?

I am kind of enchanted by the idea of girl!Bob with wings. She would hate it. She would scowl a lot and try to find enormous black hoodies to hide them under, and she would also be luminous and tell people to shut up when they try to tell her that.

I had this image in my head of little Bob trying to follow Willow out on patrol, dragging his huge battleaxe that is as big as he is and that he can't lift. :P

YOU SHOULD. It's been the best decision ever for the last week. (After you finish Bones, of course. *grins* I'm rewatching early episodes of Bones with my sister, and man oh man, I love that show. Zack! Brennan! EVERYONE. And Dr Goodman psyching Hodgins out has to be among my all-time favorite moments of that show.)

Seriously, I keep watching and I'm like, RIGHT, that line, and they're human, and they fuck up, and everyone tries, and it's just--and now I have Oz, who is the dearest of all darlings, too. OT3: Oz/Willow/Tara. Even if the show is not encouraging on that front.

You should tell me what to do with it! I'm a little lost.

I keep thinking about Bob being forced to marry... someone but Veronica swooping in to save the day. *hands* I have no idea how that would work though.

*snickers* That is an EXCELLENT idea. My only caveat is I'm actually more likely to write it with The Like, because, you know, competent women kicking ass, my god. I guess it depends on whether I want to write comedy-with-broken-bones or lesbians. Hmmm.

PS. YOUR ICON. PERFECTION.
From: [identity profile] dancinbutterfly.livejournal.com
I suggested the boys because its H/C and they need to get their asses kicked first. If you have the Like just being generally awesome and then having lesbian sex, that's more of a kink bingo situation.

Yeah, the icon's a quote from a S1 episode of Supernatural but the point remains appropriate for all sorts of awesome

True that! But on the other hand, I'd want to write this so that someone comforts Buffy. Even if someone else has the broken bones. Contrary wretch, I tell you--I like h/c when it's put together in an unexpected way, if that makes sense. Wait, that might actually--Ryan could get to do the comforting.

Buffy! Ugh, that's one show I NEVER GET TIRED OF, even though I've probably seen the entire series three or four times, plus the dozens of times I've seen my favorite episodes. SO GOOD. I love Season Two the BEST because everything about Angelus and Drusilla and cranky jealous Spike living together is amazing. IT IS THE BEST. You know, I've never rewatched the whole thing before, it's very tragic. So I'm enjoying m'self a lot now. Season Two, oh man--it's fucking wonderful is what it is. I love it more for the kids than the vamp, though I admit I've never loved them more than in this particular season (and FAITH IS AWESOME AND BREAKS MY FUCKING HEART).

I've loved it for a VERY LONG TIME, so I've seen it lots. (Seriously, I remember curling up in front of the tv for the very first night it premiered, fell instantly in love, and had a standing date with my tv for tuesday night for the next several years. I'M OLD.) So I go through cycles of loving this character or that, and NEEDING to rewatch everything, and basically I have no idea how I never ended up in Buffy fandom. (Faaaith. She tries so hard to be tough and hard, but the cracks are always showing, even if Buffy has a hard time seeing them.) And early!Buffy had the advantage of having QUEEN-BITCH CORDELIA. I love her.

It is like, my favorite trope. I love forced intimacy (by which I mean being put in startlingly domestic situations and CUDDLING and whatnot with someone unexpected/seemingly inappropriate and WATCHING THEM FALL IN LOVE.) And there is a startling lack of that in bandom fic. :\

Buffy is the greatest. Without a doubt, my favorite TV show EVER. And it's so awesome to rewatch! Speaking of season 2, I really love innocents. I watched it again not too long ago, and I was just so moved by how gentle it was. I felt like the message was this warm regard to Buffy, who's been hurt so badly, but is still clearly innocent. That Angelus will never really be able to take anything away from her. (Oh my god, I still get all teared up when I think about it.)

I remember not especially liking Buffy the first time I watched it, but holy crap do I ever feel for her in rewatching. Her loneliness is really heartbreaking (ugg, which is what makes the finale of the show SO PERFECT).

In terms of prompts, this is not SUPER h/c, but I want desperately to read a story where Brendon pulls something surfing (muscle sprains and spasms) and Spencer(or Shane!) gives him alllllll the massages. :D?

I love the way you talk about that, that Angelus can't take anything from her and that the season is so gentle, despite how violent and heartbreaking it gets sometimes. It's really--it makes me all sniffly to think about it that way too, and I really think it's true, I'm seeing it now that I rewatch it (I'm in the middle of season 2). It's like she has something in herself that she can hold onto, no matter what, and the pain is pain and the hurt is hurt, but it doesn't break her.

I've always liked her, but I can see how a teenage girl might not have, you know? I think getting a little older makes us more sympathetic, or something.

*snickers* Prediiiictable. IDK, does it have pining? Because if it doesn't, I probably can't write it. I'm really bad at porn (don't let Jen tell you any different). Also, I'm confused about whether the comfort has to be directly related to the hurt--I really want to write slayer!Z with her watcher after their version of the judge, so exhaustion would work, but it's not like her watcher telling her about respect will help the exhaustion. You know?

Ohhh, Buffy! ^___^ I really freaking do adore that show, despite its problems. I first watched it when I was like, eight, and it was the first TV show I ever watched properly (y'know, after Animals of Farthing Wood. Which was also a great show). I started rewatching Season 1 a while ago on our old On Demand features, but then we had issues with the phone company and they took it away. :( Now we have Sky, which has FX, which has Buffy and Angel as a staple, and it's slightly awesome. :D

Also, can I add myself to those clamouring for Bob/Veronica? :D? I'm not really fussed on which (although the undercover one would seem fitting...except, oooh, my eyes just lighted on the "body hatred" one, and that could be interesting, especially with you behind it). So I think you should write about Buffy being completely overworked and exhausted and then everyone has to force her to take a break and take over her slayer duties! Hey, it might not be the most original idea, but who awesome would it be? :D?

And have I mentioned how amazing it is that you're WRITING a THESIS? &you
